An Announcement and Response to the COVID-19 Crisis

At The Law Offices of A. Randolph Hough, P.A., we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic here in South Carolina and across the country. The nation is facing a crisis, with new information coming in every minute, and it can be difficult to keep up. Things are tough for everyone, and we wanted to ensure that all our clients know the current status of our offices.

As always, the first priority of our firm is the safety and health of our staff, clients, and community.

The Columbia City Council just passed an ordinance that goes into effect 12:01am Sunday, March 29, requiring city residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. This order requires residents to stay at home and avoid public streets, sidewalks, and other places unless they’re conducting “essential business.”

Under this order, legal services are considered essential services, and as such, our offices will remain open for the time being. We continue to work on existing cases, and we continue to accept new cases. We also understand you may have questions, so we’ve provided answers below.

Are you taking proper safety precautions?

We are. For the health and wellbeing of our staff and the community, our office follows the protocols recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), including:

  • Staggered scheduling of clients, limiting person-to-person contact
  • Following proper handwashing techniques
  • Continuous disinfecting, including offices, bathrooms, common areas, shared electronic equipment like tablets, touch screens, and keyboards
  • Maintaining appropriate social distance

We are dedicated one hundred percent to keeping our offices clean and safe.

Do you offer remote consultations?

Absolutely. If you are unable to or uncomfortable coming to the office, we can meet via phone or videoconference. We can handle many aspects of your case remotely.

Will you still be able to help me?

Yes. We know that right now is a time of great uncertainty, but our job is to protect your rights and that’s what we intend to do. Whether in person or online, we are here for you and we will weather this crisis together.

If you are facing a tough legal situation or have questions about an ongoing case, please don’t hesitate to contact us or call 803-771-4119 at your convenience.

Wishing you the very best,

Randy Hough
